Prophecy

prophecy.jpg

This window portrays the many prophecies which foretold the birth of Jesus. Ranging back as far as the third chapter of Genesis there are prophetic references and declarations scattered throughout the Old Testament which foretold the coming of a Messiah. This Messiah was to be the hope of all people, and the one who would deliver the Jews from the endless sacrificial routine practiced for thousands of years. The Messiah would secure once and for all the salvation of all who called on His name (Hebrews 7:26-27; 9:11-12). Jesus Christ was this Messiah, sent from God as the very Son of God. His humble birth was heralded by angels and marked the beginning of the fulfillment of prophecy related to His life, death, and resurrection. If you are interested in tracking how Jesus fulfilled ALL prophecy related to himself read the Gospel of Matthew which specially focuses on how Jesus fulfilled the messianic prophecies of the Old Testament.

The exact fulfillment of prophecies given long ago displays the divine foreknowledge and sovereignty of God over all the events of history. As is pointed out in the Gospels, even the enemies of Jesus worked to fulfill prophecy through their murderous hatred. Ironically the hatred of Jesus’ enemies toward Him worked to confirm His identity as the divine Son of God.

Jesus was not just a wise teacher, or a noble man, but the divinely foretold Messiah who was sent to earth by God to bear the sins of His people. The windows that follow speak of Jesus’ life and ministry. We hope that you will take some time to read the following story and consider the claims of Jesus. The offer of salvation and forgiveness is open to all who will turn away from their sins and confess Jesus as Lord!
