Prophecy

This window portrays the many prophecies which foretold the birth of Jesus. Ranging back as far as the third chapter of Genesis there are prophetic references and declarations scattered throughout the Old Testament which foretold the coming of a Messiah. This Messiah was to be the hope of all people, and the one who would deliver the Jews from the endless sacrificial routine practiced for thousands of years. The Messiah would secure once and for all the salvation of all who called on His name (Hebrews 7:26-27; 9:11-12). Jesus Christ was this Messiah, sent from God as the very Son of God. His humble birth was heralded by angels and marked the beginning of the fulfillment of prophecy related to His life, death, and resurrection. The exact fulfillment of prophecies given long ago displays the divine foreknowledge and sovereignty of God over all the events of history. Ironically the hatred of Jesus’ enemies toward Him worked to confirm His identity as the divine Son of God.
