Ascension

This window portrays the ascension of Jesus into heaven (Acts 1:1-10). After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples and many other witnesses over a period of forty days so that there could be no mistake that He was in fact alive. However, after Jesus had given sufficient evidence of His resurrection and encouraged His disciples to not forget His teachings, Jesus took his disciples up to the Mount of Olives near Galilee. From the top of this mountain Jesus commanded His disciples to go out into all the world and tell people what they knew about Jesus, so that many people from all over the world might believe in Jesus as Savior (Matthew 28:16-20). While Jesus was still speaking He ascended upward to heaven, finally being taken out of their view by the clouds.
Though Jesus left the earth to return to the right hand of God the Father in heaven, Jesus soon sent His Holy Spirit. Until Jesus comes again to the earth, the Holy Spirit of God has been given to strengthen each Christian. The Holy Spirit gives wisdom, comfort, and help in times of need to all who believe in Jesus as Lord.
